About the treatment

What is plasma hair treatment?

Hair thinning can affect both men and women and may become more noticeable with age, hormonal changes, stress, illness, or hereditary pattern hair loss. At Radiant Skin House in Finchley, we use Fusion 8 plasma energy to support scalp health and stimulate areas of thinning hair — without blood being taken, scalp injections, or conventional needling. Plasma hair treatment uses controlled physical plasma energy applied over the scalp — sometimes called cold atmospheric plasma. This treatment does not use blood plasma and should not be confused with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is an entirely different procedure requiring blood processing and scalp injections. The treatment is intended to support scalp microcirculation, oxygen and nutrient delivery, a healthier scalp environment, existing follicle activity, and stronger-looking hair. Research into cold atmospheric plasma for hair growth is developing and early findings are promising — however, results vary, and the treatment cannot restore follicles that are no longer active.

Plasma energy supports

  • Scalp microcirculation
  • Oxygen and nutrient delivery to the scalp
  • A healthier scalp environment
  • Existing follicle activity
  • Stronger, healthier-looking hair

Who may benefit?

Plasma scalp treatment may be considered by men and women experiencing:
The treatment is generally most appropriate while follicles are still present. It cannot be expected to regrow hair in areas where follicles have been permanently lost.

Getting the most from your treatment

Pre & post care

A few simple steps before and after each session will maximise your results and ensure your skin responds at its best.

Needle-free treatment

Unlike PRP and conventional microneedling, Fusion 8 plasma energy is applied without repeated injections or needles entering the scalp.

No blood draw required

PRP requires a blood sample, processing and multiple scalp injections. Plasma energy treatment does not require any blood to be taken or injected.

A more comfortable experience

Many clients find it more comfortable than PRP or scalp microneedling — though individual sensitivity varies and we will explain what to expect at consultation.

Minimal downtime

The treatment is designed to fit conveniently into everyday life. The scalp may feel warm or mildly sensitive temporarily, but significant downtime is not normally expected.

Personalised course

Hair growth happens gradually. Treatments are recommended as a course — the number and frequency of sessions is based on your individual scalp assessment, not a one-size protocol.

TREATMENT COMPARISON

Plasma energy compared with PRP and microneedling

Plasma energy is not claimed to be universally more effective than PRP or microneedling. Its principal advantages are that it is needle-free, requires no blood processing, and may provide a more comfortable experience.

Your appointment

What happens during treatment?

Your appointment begins with an assessment of your scalp and the areas of concern. We will discuss when the thinning started, whether it is progressing, and whether you have any relevant medical conditions or medications.

The hair is sectioned so the Fusion 8 handpiece can be applied systematically across the required areas. Controlled plasma energy is then delivered over the scalp according to your personalised treatment protocol. Treatment time depends on the size and number of areas being addressed.

Results vary according to

  • The cause and duration of the hair loss
  • Whether follicles remain active
  • Age and hormonal factors
  • General health and nutrition
  • Consistency with the recommended course

Timing

When might I notice a difference?

Hair grows slowly, so changes should not be expected immediately after a single session. Some clients may first notice improvements in scalp condition, reduced shedding, or stronger-feeling hair before visible changes in density. Progress should be monitored using consistent photographs taken under the same lighting and from the same angles. Most clients will require a course of treatments followed by a review. We will provide a clear treatment plan and price before you decide whether to proceed.

When should hair loss be medically investigated?

Plasma treatment should not replace medical assessment. We may recommend you speak to your GP or dermatologist if you experience:

  • Sudden or unexplained hair loss
  • Completely bald or sharply defined patches
  • Scalp pain, inflammation, sores or significant itching
  • Scarring of the scalp
  • Hair loss following a new medication
  • Symptoms of thyroid, iron, hormonal or nutritional problems
  • Rapidly worsening shedding

FAQ

Plasma hair treatment — your questions answered

Everything you need to know before booking your first session in Finchley.
No. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and involves taking and processing your blood before injecting concentrated platelets into the scalp. Fusion 8 uses physical plasma energy — cold atmospheric plasma — and does not require a blood sample, blood processing, or scalp injections.
Fusion 8 scalp treatment is needle-free. Many clients find it more comfortable than PRP injections or scalp microneedling, although individual sensitivity varies. We will explain what the treatment is likely to feel like during your consultation.
It should not be presented as a way to recreate follicles that have been permanently lost. It is most appropriately considered for early-stage thinning and areas where follicles remain present and active.
It may be considered for women experiencing gradual thinning, including changes associated with ageing or menopause. Unexplained or sudden hair loss should first be medically investigated before cosmetic treatment begins.
It may support scalp health and existing follicles in areas of early thinning. Suitability depends on the stage and cause of hair loss, and results cannot be guaranteed. We assess each case individually at consultation.
Hair growth cycles take time. Some clients may first notice improvements in scalp condition, reduced shedding, or stronger-feeling hair before visible changes in density. Progress should be assessed over several months using consistent photographs rather than expected after one appointment.
